REV. DR. PERPETUAL STUDENT

Many facets.
One life.
One love.

I’m Joseph. A psychologist, writer, aspiring musician, reverend, meditator, Zio (uncle), and beloved "son of a paver" with a love of the open road.

This is where those parts of me meet.

A PERSONAL FIELD GUIDE

Choose a thread.
See where it leads.

Different expressions of the same curiosity: how to live, listen, create, and connect.

01SOUND & EXPRESSION

The aspiring
musician.

Rhythm guitar, a love of drum and bass, and the pleasure of making music with other people. Music gives the parts of me that words can’t reach a place to go.

Behind the music

I play rhythm guitar in Moonlight Desires. I’m also exploring the dance floor through DJ JD. Still learning. Still listening.

02CLINICAL & COMPASSIONATE CARE

The clinical-
scientist.

Clinical psychology, research, and a commitment to compassionate care. Asking questions that matter, and bringing what we learn back into people’s lives.

03WORDS, WORDS, WORDS

The author
& speaker.

Stories, little ideas, and conversations about being human. From Joey the Dragon’s big feelings to the art of letting go of who we think we have to be.

The Adventures of Joey the Dragon and Beloved Friends
A little dragon, big feelings, and the courage to feel them.

Unbecoming
The Art of Letting Go of Who You Think You Have to Be.

Psychedelic Conversations with AI
An ongoing exploration of language, experience, and possibility.

04REV. / SPIRITUAL LIFE

The reverend.

A place for the sacred in an ordinary life. For questions of meaning, compassion, belonging, and how we care for one another.

A spirit of inquiry

I make room here for spiritual reflection alongside the other parts of my life. For listening, wondering, and being with what we cannot easily put into words.

05VIPASSANA / PRACTICE

The perpetual student
& martial artist.

In Vipassana, an “old student” is someone who has completed a course. I like the reminder in that name: however long we practise, we remain students.

A practice of greeting what arrives, escorting what goes, and connecting with what is - as it is.

Meditation is part of my daily life: observing, returning, and learning to meet experience with equanimity.

06MOTOPSYCHO / THE OPEN ROAD

The road
renegade.

Son of a paver. Lover of the road. Two wheels, a little adventure, and a chance to notice the mind while the scenery changes.

THE THREAD RUNNING THROUGH IT ALL

“Listening is loving.
Loving is listening.”
JOSEPH DE LEO

The work, the words, the music, the stillness, the miles. Each offers a different way to pay attention — to myself, to others, and to the life happening right here and now.

06 / NOTES FROM THE ROAD

MotoPsycho.

Two wheel throttle therapy.

My father paved roads. I find myself drawn to riding them. MotoPsycho brings that love of the road together with a psychologist’s curiosity about the mind and heart.

Ride the road.
Notice the mind.
Let go.
